Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
This policy covers advertiseguyana.com and the FindItInGY mobile app (together, "Find It In Guyana"). It explains what information we collect, how it is used, and what stays on your device.
Information you enter in the FindItInGY app
When you first open the FindItInGY mobile app, you're asked for a name (required), email, and phone number. This information is stored only in the app's local storage on your own device. Your email address and phone number are never uploaded to our servers or shared with any third party. Your name leaves your device only when you rate a business in the app, as described in Ratings and comments below. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage permanently removes what is stored on your device.
Business directory searches
Search queries you type into the app (e.g. a business name or category) are sent to our directory service so we can return matching results. We do not attach your name, email, or phone number to these requests, and we do not build a profile of your searches.
Maps
Business address maps in the app and on the website are provided by Google Maps. When a map is shown or opened, Google may process the address and standard technical/request information under its own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Business listing data
Business names, addresses, phone numbers, and descriptions shown in search results are directory information about businesses, submitted by or on behalf of those businesses for the purpose of being found by customers. This is not personal information about app or website visitors.
Ratings and comments
Visitors can rate a business from 1 to 5 stars, and can add a comment, on advertiseguyana.com and in the FindItInGY app. Ratings are public. Here is what happens when you rate:
- Shown to everyone. Your stars, your comment (if you wrote one), the name you rated under, and the date are shown on that business's listing, to every visitor. Each business also shows its average rating and how many ratings it has. Comments are shown as plain text.
- Your name. In the app, the name you gave when you first opened it is sent with each rating you make and is shown next to it. On the website, the name field is optional and is shown only if you fill it in. If you do not want your name shown, leave it blank on the website, or do not rate in the app.
- What is not shown. We do not show your email address, your phone number, or the identifier described below.
- A rating identifier. So that you can change or remove your own ratings, we
give your app or browser a random identifier, held in a signed token. The app keeps it in its
own storage on your device. The website keeps it in your browser's local storage under the name
figy_rating_token. It is not a cookie, it is not used for advertising or analytics, and it is not shared with Google. It is sent to us only when you submit, change or remove a rating. - Your connection. When you rate, our server receives your IP address, as it does for any web request. We use it only to limit how many ratings and identifiers can be created from one connection in a short time. Your IP address is not stored with your rating, although our hosting provider's standard request logs may record it.
- Ratings are not checked. We do not verify who rates. A rating shows that someone chose that number, not that they used the business.
- Moderation. We may hide or remove a rating or comment that breaks our rules, such as abuse, spam, or someone else's personal details.
Changing or removing your rating. You can change or remove your own rating at any time, with "Remove my rating" on the business's page, or in the app's rating dialog. This works on the same device and browser where you rated, while the identifier is still there. If you clear your browser's data, clear the app's storage, or reinstall the app, you can no longer change or remove those ratings from that device, and new ratings get a new identifier. To ask us to remove a rating you can no longer manage yourself, use the Contact Us page and give the business name and the name you rated under.
Signup and contact forms
Our Signup page loads an embedded Airtable form — only after you pass a Cloudflare Turnstile bot check — to collect the business and contact details you choose to submit when listing a business (such as business name, contact name, email, and phone number). Our Contact Us page loads an embedded Google Form, only once you click "Load contact form," to collect your name, email address, and message. Neither embed loads, and neither provider can set a cookie in your browser, until you take that action. Information submitted through either form is received and stored by that third-party provider (Airtable or Google) on our behalf, and is used only to process your signup or respond to your message — not for advertising.
Cookies, consent, and Global Privacy Control
advertiseguyana.com only sets one cookie category without asking first: Cloudflare Turnstile's short-lived bot-check token on the Signup page, which is strictly necessary for that specific anti-spam feature and does not track you across sites. Everything else requires action from you:
- Google Analytics — measures page views and general traffic patterns. This script is not loaded until you click "Accept analytics" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you click "Decline," or take no action, it never loads.
- Airtable (Signup form) and Google Forms (Contact form) — these embeds only load, and can only set their own cookies, once you actively pass the bot check (Signup) or click to load the form (Contact) as described above.
The rating identifier described under Ratings and comments is not a cookie. It is kept in your browser's local storage only after you rate, change or remove a rating on a business page, and it is used for nothing else.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat that as a binding opt-out: analytics is skipped automatically and the banner is not shown. You can change your analytics choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the site footer. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not sell or share cookie data with anyone.
What this does and doesn't guarantee: we control, and can guarantee, that our own analytics script will not run unless you accept it (or will not run at all if you send a GPC signal). We cannot control what Airtable or Google do internally once you choose to open their embedded forms — that is governed by Airtable's and Google's own privacy policies. Declining analytics does not prevent you from using the site, and does not affect your ability to search the directory, view a business, or submit a signup or contact form when you choose to.
Your rights under GDPR (EEA, UK, and Switzerland visitors)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Analytics only runs with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time via "Cookie Preferences" in the footer. To exercise any other rights, use the Contact Us page. Because our servers and service providers (including Google, Airtable, and Cloudflare) may be located outside your country, your information may be transferred internationally as part of providing the service.
Your rights under CCPA/CPRA (California residents)
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of any such sale or sharing. California residents have the right to know what personal information we hold about them, to request its deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, use the Contact Us page.
Data retention
Signup and contact form submissions are kept for as long as needed to process your request or maintain your business listing, or until you ask us to delete them. Information you enter in the FindItInGY app never leaves your device, so it is retained only for as long as you keep it there — uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes it immediately.
Ratings and comments are kept until you remove them, or until we remove them under our moderation rules. In the app, the rating identifier is kept until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. On the website, it is kept until you clear your browser's data for advertiseguyana.com.
Children's privacy
Find It In Guyana is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the website or app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
